



This is a city of ruins and none is more elegantly preserved than
Humayun’s Tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal and an early example of Mughal
architecture. Built in the 1560s for Humayun, the second Mughal emperor, the domed mausoleum has an elaborate
garden, potted with red sandstone tombs, gates and a mosque. (text taken from the NYTs)
